FEATURING ARUN GUPTA – Despite massive campaigning in the state of New York, leading up to Tuesday’s primary, Brooklyn native Bernie Sanders lost to his rival Hillary Clinton by 42 to 58%.

It has been the first time in a long time that New York’s primary mattered so much in the race for the Presidential nomination. Several controversies emerged in the weeks and days before the primary about voters being unable to cast ballots. In particular, those voters who might have wanted to change their party affiliation to vote in New York’s closed primary, would have had to have done so last October.

The Sanders campaign has also accused the New York Board of Elections of stripping 125,000 voters from the rolls, including in Brooklyn where he commanded support.

ERRATUM: During this interview, Sonali incorrectly stated that people registered with other parties could vote in the California Democratic Primary. People in California who are registered with parties other than the Democratic Party, still have time to change their party affiliation to the Democratic Party if they want to vote in the Democratic Primary. The deadline to change your registration is May 23rd. People who are registered as Decline to State can request a Democratic ballot. Visit www.calvoter.org for more information.
