Held on Sunday, the elections were a high-stakes incident for the Central American nation that has been plagued by violence and corruption since the 2009 coup against democratically elected President Manuel Zelaya. Now, Castro, who is Zelaya’s wife, has a commanding vote lead against the incumbent National Party’s candidate Nasry Asfura.
